Will be at an EB/BB in SF for full-time next summer. Assuming 85k base + 10k sign on, and a moderate bonus estimate of 50k, how much after-tax take home income can I expect? most threads on this were outdated. Was also curious if bonus is taxed at the same rate as salary
Your bonus is taxed at the same rate as your overall comp - if you make $150,000, it doesn't matter if 10% or 90% of it's your bonus, your final tax bill will be the same. However, the US uses a retarded withholding method, so just because your bonus is a really big check you'll have a lot of it withheld. You'll end up with a pretty decent tax return in April.

does that mean the bonus is also taxed as a part of your overall comp? i.e. no separate (higher) tax rate for bonus? Thanks!

Bonus is withheld at a higher rate. You end up getting it back at tax return

Curious what typical BB bonuses are at (GS/MS/JPM) tech groups in SF?
