2021 Bonus Megathread

Well boys and girls,It's that time of the year again.Let's hear the blood money your banks paid for the sweatiest year on record.Pls mention [Bank/Position (An1/An2/etc) / Base / All-in]And congrats on making it through the year. We all deserve it.

Wishing everyone wel in these difficult times... but let’s see some numbers!!

Bro you ain’t slick. Might wanna delete this from your page cuz EVR is the new GS of EBs

Can anyone comment on recent laterals bonus expectations? How many weeks / months do you have to join before getting anything (even pro-rata)?

I’m sure it’s bank dependent but would love some context on precedents, especially at BB. Thanks.

It depends on what type of lateral move you’re making. If you go BB -> BB (or similar, eg Jeff -> BB or Wells -> BB), then your new firm will typically pay you a full-year bonus even if you joined 6-10 months in to make up for the fact that you worked for 6-10 months at your old firm and didn’t get a bonus.

If you’re moving from a Big 4 or something they’ll try to get away with paying you a stub, like 20-30k

And if you’re moving from a no name boutique to a BB and don’t get anything….? Do I make a deal about it?

Whatever you negotiated when you moved. This is why it is super important to get as much as you can in signing if you leave before bonus

Usually by default the contracts are written from "effective date" so if you moved in Feb and they pay in Aug then you should get Feb - Aug pro-rata. Some people negotiated for it all though etc. It just depends

This seems like it may be the mid bucket of 2020. BMO was exactly the same

Mid: 65K bonus, bump from $85K to $105K (AN1 is now $100K) and then signing bonus etc. (was $7.5K in 2019)

Top: $80/85

An2 bonuses were ~$110 and then promotion bonus (like $40K - still nothing compared to even post-MBA signing bonuses at EBs etc.)

thanks! do you happen to know if this is mid/top bucket?

When does the sign-on bonus hit your account? Is it right after you sign or is it paid when you start?

By analyst 2 do you mean the class that just joined in June 2020? and are they looking to exit to another bank?
