2022 On-Cycle - Total Comp Package?
For those who have received offers this week during 2022 PE On-cycle, could you please share what the total compensation package you have been receiving is? Breakdown of base + expected bonus would be great, as well as fund or AUM size.
Mostly trying to see if PE bumped up comp after the recent pay bump in banking
Bump
Bump
UMM (3-7B latest fund) AS1: $300K total comp
MM ($1-2bn latest fund) ASO1: $275k total comp and some opportunities for carry on a deal-by-deal basis. Is this above market?
330 total comp for AS1
fund size?
MF AS1: ~$375k
This H&F?
It’s a NYC-based position for one of the traditional megafunds
MM ($1.5B latest fund) - $325k all-in
oh wow is >$300k the new norm for MM PE with $1bn+ latest fund size?
Honestly no idea what would be “normal” comp for this fund size but my impression was that it’s way above market compared to similar sized funds, just from talking with friends that got offers elsewhere. It’s a relatively young firm that has done extremely well so far. When I told headhunters I accepted an offer and they did the whole “check-in” call where they basically just want to know how much you’re making, they all seemed shocked at that pay for that size fund. So I think it’s above market.
MF (x2, 2 offers >$20bn funds): $300k target
Almost feels light...MF discount is real? I do get co-invest (w/o fees) into funds that have returned >20% Net IRR so could make up for it I guess
MF has a slight premium, not a discount except for BX and Carlyle. Most MMPE hovers around upper-200s for AS1 and UMM around $300.
Guess you know which funds I’m talking about!
I guess those are just the “targets” and HR claims there’s material upside there so just gonna have to see what it ends up being. Thanks for the color
Whats the discount on BX? Ik for analysts they used to get around 160k excluding signing, but new base is 110k so all-in should be higher for them now. Given that, that’s odd if BX is only 300k for associates now
300 A1, UMM (5bn)
Bump
How big of a red flag is it if a firm won’t commit to a target all-in comp figure and describes bonus as “market”?
Bump
UMM, 5-7bn latest fund, 300k all in AS1.
MF, 300k all in AS1, although anticipating that PE funds will raise to match IB raises over the next year (hoping this is implemented before we start)
Seems like some MF analyst programs already incorporated raises. Wonder why Associate pay didnt follow
The offer letter said they were anticipating raises to match IB raises? Or just what the HH said verbally?
Just anticipating it. Nothing indicated in offer letter or by HH. The fund is competitive and the people who run it are not idiots, so if the rest of the street follows, they will follow.
Anyone have any data points from growth equity?
Interested in data points for Growth Equity firms as well. I know TA gave out offers - who else?
Great Hill - $140k base, $250k target.
Is MF market rate going at 325-350 or something now?
Does anyone know what Summit Partners comp is like these days for growth equity?
Bump
UMM (4-7B latest fund) AS1: ~$300K total comp (~$25k of which is profit sharing / carry). The carry seems more like phantom carry but interesting to see nonetheless.
Top growth fund (10bn+ latest fund size)
strong indication 300k is the target all in comp value
get sense 270k - 350k is in range for aso1
Insight or GA?
Definitely TA
Is it normal for funds to indicate a target bonus range? What if the fund just indicates bonus range will match closest market peers?
Bump. Curious to hear more to make sure offers are market
European MF in US: $300k target, $150k base. Feels low based on the other replies, hopefully there is a signing bonus too
