Wow you sure think highly of that school. With the 1# school in a 1st world country I was hoping you would be talking about Harvard with a slight chance of LSE.
Reminds me of a networking call I had a few months ago.
Guy got his BA in Math/Comp Sci, went to teach because that was what he wanted to do – taught in garbage district schools for a few years and realized he would not only make no livable salary, but didn't enjoy what he was doing because of the surrounding environment. Age 28, went back for his second BS, this time in Finance, took him ~2(?) years to finish, then went for his MS a few years down the line.
Not exactly the same situation, but just shows that plenty of ppl return to undergrad further down the line. No worries if you decide to do so as well. Data/Analytics is incredibly sought after – sounds like you might be going for the same as the above story, just in reverse (degree wise) – for what it's worth, he is now a VP at a top BB doing modeling/scoring data metrics analysis, so it looks like it worked out for him.
A regular undergraduate degree won't future proof you much, thousands of people graduate U of T every year, its a huge school and wouldn't make you unique at all
It depends what you want to do and where you want to go. But U of T is the best school for very few people. The grading is very very strict and the classes are curved and very competitive. I'm biased in what I recommend because I've gone through the application process and made my own choices but I think Ivey/Queens are the best and McGill has a great international reputation as well. If IB in NYC is your goal and you really want to go to school in Canada then Ivey is probably your best bet.
Considering the top target for Silicon Valley is the University of Waterloo...I would probably check your sources. U of China aka UofT is probably considered a top target for relatives in Asia. People have definitely heard of McGill, Ivey, Queens, UBC, and UW. You rarely get an interview in Canada if your program/University is not recognized.
Your story makes zero sense. You want to CS/data analytics yet you want to do IB? Why not just go to a target like Ivey or Queens? If you want to do CS, you go to Waterloo so you can work for Big Tech in the US. If you want to work internationally outside of North America, sure go ahead, then none of this matters and you go to UofT for the recognition.
Don't get me wrong, UofT is a great school. But calling it "#1 target-university in a 1st world country" is way too arrogant. What about Ivy Leagues? Even in Canada, McGill, UBC, UWaterloo, Queens, Ivey etc. are as reputable as UofT.
UofT is not the #1 target school, not by a long shot. People from there still get in, but Ivey, Queens, McGill Inv. Mgmt and UBC PMF are all above UofT in terms of IB placements. UW, Laurier and Schulich are also roughly on par with UofT
You guys are blowing up his mind with how UofT is not the #1 target school. Him talking about finance jobs being automated and him studying CS....I wonder if he's going into it to be the one who automates it? XD
UWaterloo is easily the biggest target for undergraduate STEM (Eng and CS) in Canada no competition comes anywhere close. Go there or don't bother tbh.
Can't tell whether OP is imitating @Angel Molester" because he's a derivative troll, or because he's trying to reserve the right to be a derivative troll when he realizes he's made a shit thread.
This guy is a defo troll. A few weeks back he was posting about how he got accepted into a Western-affiliated university in Dubai straight into soph year after skipping freshman. Here, he talks about how he worked as an analyst for a year, and claims he's 24. Then, there's the fact that his grades don't add up for an 80% schol in UofT - he only got an 81% in U of T, in a curriculum (CBSE) where LSE demands at least 90%. For a rigorous programme like CompSci, I expect UofT to have the same requirements. And yes, U of T is a top school for CompSci, unlike what most people here have said - I haven't heard of Wilfrid Laurier so much as I've heard of U of T, and I'm pretty sure my colleagues and MBB guys would agree. Although Waterloo is leagues over U of T.
Plus the fact that he was a whiny bitch a few weeks back, and was desperate for internships at Dubai Financial Centre. I'm pretty sure no one can change his country from South Asia to Canada, especially after getting rejected for the Visa previously (which he had mentioned earlier). These points make me highly doubt this story to be true. If you aren't convinced, just check his previous posts.
Do yourselves a favour and ignore this troll. And then thank yourselves for the amount of time you have saved. I see a lot of guys trying to be helpful to this guy, but what I sense is he's fishing out for conclusions on a hypothetical scenario.
GoldenCinderblock: "I keep spending all my money on exotic fish so my armor sucks. Is it possible to romance multiple females? I got with the blue chick so far but I am also interested in the electronic chick and the face mask chick."
Your last sentence is true. I am not a troll. I am quite serious about this when I ask. I am just putting up situations that might be possible in future. It will be very helpful if you put out information cause you know a lot.
From what I know of India, it's only feasible to study there and try for GS, MS, and MBB, if you are in one of the IITs or IIMs - else it's an uphill battle. Also, KPMG isn't equivalent to the rest of the firms you mentioned.
As for asserting hypothetical situations to be true, I have no words. The truth has been spoken.

Thank
Sure thing. If you decide to go down this route, just make sure you frame your story properly when you have to explain your age and degrees.
A regular undergraduate degree won't future proof you much, thousands of people graduate U of T every year, its a huge school and wouldn't make you unique at all
Not sure I would call U of T the #1 target school in Canada for undergraduates.
I like turtles

I heard if you identify as a gender-queer, minority, disabled, lgbtq12345 member, you get 4.0 and great recognition easily. will this help?
You're a shitty troll

Waterloo has an amazing reputation
Don't get me wrong, UofT is a great school. But calling it "#1 target-university in a 1st world country" is way too arrogant. What about Ivy Leagues? Even in Canada, McGill, UBC, UWaterloo, Queens, Ivey etc. are as reputable as UofT.
i said "in" a 1st world country, not "amongst". i am specifically taking of Canada as a 1st world country.
Sorry that's my bad. But that doesn't change my remaining statement.
UofT is not the #1 target school, not by a long shot. People from there still get in, but Ivey, Queens, McGill Inv. Mgmt and UBC PMF are all above UofT in terms of IB placements. UW, Laurier and Schulich are also roughly on par with UofT

Yes,
You're an idiot
UWaterloo is easily the biggest target for undergraduate STEM (Eng and CS) in Canada no competition comes anywhere close. Go there or don't bother tbh.
I didn't know that. Sorry. UofWL is best in CS, I admit it. Aside from Uof WL, which university ranks the best #2 and on...
Can't tell whether OP is imitating @Angel Molester" because he's a derivative troll, or because he's trying to reserve the right to be a derivative troll when he realizes he's made a shit thread.
Garbage either way.
I am not a troll! This is serious! :)
Goodness, how the fuck did this thread grow? OP sounds retarded clearly, and I couldn't read past his second post.
because all Canadians hate a U of T fan boy; they're fake news.
lol. why people hate U of T? Is is a mess? Need to build a wall around them?

BTW, I regret not going to india
