3.8 GPA, Should I just give up until i get to grad school?

Been trying to get a summer job, feels like next to impossible to land a banking "summer" job. I am coming from a non target school, i have won awards for writing creative essays which translated into my cover letter but I only got 1 interview.

I am also from Canada. I feel like I should just do grad school and go into a Mfin program and try my luck there.

Here's a lesson you need to learn right now if you ever want to work in business.

Creative writing has no place in cover letters, resumes, business emails, etc.

You may actually be hurting your chances if you write a certain way.

Also, if you're a junior, definitely look into Vanderbilt MSF or something comparable if you want to go into banking.

^thanks.I thought cover letters were to be creative to get their attention. I am a junior. I am currently looking at Colombia, Harvard 2+2, and Princeton. Would def add Vanderbilt to the list, i checked it out def like that it is a 1 yr rather than colombia's 2 yr

I like how you mention those schools like you could easily get in or something. If your talented enough to get into Harvard 2+2, you could get a job as an investment banker. LOL!

Where in Colombia are you looking to go to school? Could be a fun time, but I don't see it helping you to get into investment banking, unless your idea of banking is to work for one of the AFI member institutions.

Colombia is a country. Columbia is a university. You should probably learn the difference before applying.

Also, worth noting, your chances of getting into IB out of a financial engineering masters are essentially zero. There's a very big difference between a masters in finance and a masters in financial engineering.
