What will I-Banking look like in 10-20 years?
Hey monkeys,
Just curious what you guys think will happen to investment banking in the future.
Do you guys think it will drastically change?
Do you guys think it will be the same as it is now?
Other thoughts?
ah the age old question....
Seems like it will stay the same in my opinion, if not with slight changes.
Probably worse. Can't get better
4 years from now, what will IB analyst positions look like? (Originally Posted: 03/31/2017)
I'm a HS student who will be graduating uni in 2021 at a target school. Although I can look to alumni to model the path to IB analyst positions, I think a lot will change in 4 years by the time I graduate. What changes do you see occurring on Wall Street, at IBs, and in IB analyst positions? (eg. recruiting based more on merit than relationships? programming literacy requirements? lowered working hours due to increased technology implementation etc.)
IB headcount will likely decrease further slightly and if there's a recession maybe 2-3 years out from this stage, very, very little hiring or at least conversion rates to full time offers for interns will happen.
That being said, please don't be one of those kids wanting to get into IB since high school, no one will want to work with you.
Well, things have definitely changed a lot. Especially these last two months in quarantine.
Outsourcing effect on I-Banking? (Originally Posted: 07/01/2006)
I've been reading some articles regarding this topic. These are the main points I came up with:
"Investment Banks Outsourcing to India"
A number of big names have quietly hired Indian firms or set up their own subsidiaries on the subcontinent to handle basic financial modeling and comparable analysis.

"The outsourcing wave hits investment bankers"
It's not just IT support anymore. Banks increasingly are taking their research analysis operations abroad -- and deal-making may be next.

How much of an effect do you think outsourcing will have in the investment banking field in the near future? Will it be good for or bad for entry level analysts for investment banking firms?
Thank you for your sharing your thoughts!
