I'm on day 5 and might cut it early. Down 10.4 lbs so far. Blood glucose is 57 mg/dL. All I had to eat the day before the fast was salami and a bottle of port. That may have been a mistake in retrospect. Resting heart rate is in the mid 60s spiking up to 70 which is way higher than it should be. I've experienced extreme energy, reduction in anxiety, and general feelings of gratitude and enthusiasm for the future before on these longer fasts. I'm experiencing the same stuff but energy is lacking. Finding it difficult to self-motivate to do work.

Another theory is I'm low on minerals. People who do extended fasts usually supplement with minerals and even vitamins for longer ones. I'm just drinking fridge door water. Might have a couple tsp of pink salt in water and see how it goes.

Another little thing is I dislocated my left shoulder doing a 1 rep max day one day before the fast and it's still hurting. I keep telling my bitch little body to just recycle some bad collagen cells but it might be an OK idea to throw some protein on that bitch. My shoulders are fucked up enough.

If I do break fast, it'll be first with coffee, then a workout and sauna, then one of my famous shakes, then a light meal a few hours later. And not with wine and wings like last time.

Oh and oh my god, check out this shit I found doing research: http://www.curezone.org/forums/am.asp?i=1427802

Ended up breaking fast Saturday afternoon after a workout and sauna session. I took a bit of pink salt Friday and felt better, but my body wasn't feeling it this time so I cut it a day early. Take-aways are: 1. Don't drink the day before. 2. Diet day before should be very veggie-heavy so bowels clear out for duration of fast. I had salami sticks in my colon the whole time, I later came to realize. Felt way better on a longer fast when I went in on a healthier note.

At the very least I think you should take a multivitamin and 10,000 IUs of D3/day

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

Totally unnecessary to take multis on such a short fast. Only real concern is minerals and even then, not that big a deal until you get to longer fasts. 10,000 iu is way too much and supplementing with D on a fast is unnecessary. The body stores it all winter; it can handle 5 days. I wouldn't recommend for anyone to take more than 5,000 as D is a prohormone and has negative effects on calcium binding on the right of the bell curve. I try to just get sunlight on skin though.

Was fine for the first two days, but was groggy in the morning of the third day so i put 4 packets of sugar in my tea. My body basically said "oh its feeding time now" and made the rest of the day pretty terrible. On Thursday (day 4) i got home from work and just said fuck it and ate a slice of leftover pizza and drank a beer thus ending the fast early.

edit: just like GoldenCinderblock, i was crushing brews all day on Sunday -as a result of getting blasted all day in fantasy football- leading up to the fast, would recommend getting pretty clean to make life a little easier.

Great post. The human body wasn't designed for continual eating. I've done three day fasts and loved it. Issue is with the social aspect of food. I usually intermittently fast.

Really great way to condition your body and keep excess fat off.

Can you elaborate? Are you implying one must be on drugs to see the value in fasting? If so, you're just revealing your ignorance.

heister: Look at all these wannabe richies hating on an expensive salad. https://arthuxtable.com/

I hav done short fasts. From 5-6 days juice fast to 3 days water fasts. Now I am on Intermitted fasting where I fast for 14-16hrs a day. It is great for me as it is very efficient, both for time&calorie management, and also for weight loss and muscle gaining due to effect on HGH

I don't know what bro science articles you've dug up through your research but consuming less than 60 grams of carbs a day and trying to make significant gains is borderline comical.

Let me fix your diet so you don't have to go on water fasts.

  1. NO oils = No olive oil, no coconut oil, and no vegetable oil. Can't stress this enough and you can bet that when you eat out you're shooting yourself with a 12-gauge

  2. Consume as much carbs as you want. Sprouted grain for bread, Black bean for pasta, and replace rice with oatmeal. white rice / brown rice = hello weight watchers, hey guys wanna do a water diet?

  3. Avoid fatty foods like the plague, you don't need fucking fats, this isn't the cave man days where we need to store body fat for winter when you're working in a temperature regulated office... you're not undergoing Army Ranger winter training. What do you think? that fat magically turns into muscle? lmao you get plenty of fat from trying to avoid fat in the first place. Avoid pork, avoid avocados, and avoid nuts

  4. Triple your intake of vegetables and fruits, avoid high fructose fruits.
  5. Don't add seasoning to jack shit
  6. Do not consume any other fucking liquid than water. if you want flavor you pussy throw a lemon in it, that will be good for the acne
  7. NO DAIRY PERIOD. BYE CHEESE, BYE YOGURT , BYE MILK
  8. discipline.. if you have the discipline to under go long hours in finance, then you should have the discipline to fuel your body correctly. remember 5 seconds of mouthgasm isn't worth 5 minutes in the gym or the 2 days of regret

people do not get fat when they consume a shit ton of carbs, people get fat when they consume carbs + fatty foods. Carbs are essential and if you're avoiding them like a misinformed paleo diet, water fasting, soul cycling fat nyu student then it's time for you to change.

Your food should not be "tasty" or "delicious", food is sustenance to fuel the Ferrari and over ages it has become less important and more about satisfying our taste buds.

YOUR NEW DIET:

Breakfast: You don't have time for breakfast? Sit your fucking ass down kid, grab the quaker oats and pour yourself a sizeable amount. Reaching for the milk? Did you not read rule 6? Do not consume any fucking liquid other than water. Good thing you work in finance.. add the blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and bananas.

Lunch: Alright, bringing your own lunch is a pain in the god damn ass. And it's awkward if you don't go out with your buddies. This is your chance to eat your veggies and fruits. Go to a trader joes/ grocery outlet... DON'T FUCKING BUY A 15USD SALAD. Buy a mini-shipping container esque salad and learn to love the taste of plain salad. If you're weak add some nuts but I'd advise against nuts as they are high in fats. The protein/fat ratio in peanuts is borderline dogshit and you're not a squirrel trying to put on fat for the winter. Make sure to pick up a bag of "cutie oranges" as these taste good are great for acne (grab bananas if you want).

Dinner: Bake four pieces of chicken breast or Tilapia without any seasoning. Do not fucking pick up the avocado, that shit is PURE FAT don't fall into the marketing, why do you think it tastes so damn good? remember anything that tastes good is probably bad for you. Go to your local trader joes and buy their black bean pasta, cook that up and cut your fish/chicken.. bon appetit

Snack: snack all day on Ezekiel toast with nothing on top of that either.

It's hard to maintain this diet if you're not used to having a pre-disciplined sort of diet, but I took my fat sis who trolled the internet and was morbidly obese and put her on this diet as well as made her do a couple stomach crunches a night (50ish) and she has better abs than 70% of the male models out there.

my .02 / dated a woman with a phd in nutritional sciences. that being said before i met her i was on a low carb diet as well and had a shit ton of acne.

'1. Olive Oil and Coconut oil are fine. They are extremely healthy.

'3. Fatty foods like Avocados and Cashews, etc. are an essential part of a nutritious diet. The body needs healthy fats.

'3. I doubt Army Ranger winter training is that difficult.

'3. Pork is cool. Are you saying no bacon? You crazy?!?

'5. Seasoning is fine, in fact healthy, unless you're over salting.

'6. Lemon in water is very healthy. So is green tea.

  1. Olive Oil and Coconut oil are not extremely healthy. FUCK ME DEAD. Natural oils have no nutrition value and cause your sebaceous gland to over excrete. That's like saying sugar is healthy because it comes from the sugar cane. Don't spread misinformation.

  2. LOOOOOOOOOOOOL protein/fat ratio in peanuts and ESPECIALLY CASHEWS are just bad. An avocado is PURE FAT. Nuts are for squirrels so they can build fat for the winter, tell me why fats are good for the body? because you heard that from some website or broinfo you read in the past? (Note: fats are essential but you eat enough fats just trying to avoid fats, you don't need to seek out fats in order to fill a quota)

  3. lol

  4. Pork is high in fats

  5. pussy

  6. yes

This is as wrong as it gets. I have abs and boundless energy. I think I'll keep doing what I'm doing. And again, the purpose of a fast is autophagy - not fat loss.

This will be funny. Enlighten me.

  1. What happens if I consume 450g of carbs, 200g of protein, and 0g of fat per day cuz fat is rly bad. My maintenance calories are around 2.2k. Will I gain fat?

  2. Please tell me how avocados/salmon/cashews are bad. First I'd love to hear your logic on it. Then gonna need studies telling me why omega 3s have negative effects on the body. Im sure you'll easily find tons.

  3. Why is fructose bad. Please link the one study where they fed a rat the equivalent of 10k cals worth of fructose. That will surely tell me.

  4. What are the negative effects of adding pepper, chili powder, etc. to my food.

  5. Why can't I drink tea

  6. Actually agree

Would love to hear explanation on how eating a shit load of carbs won't make me fit.
