7/22/16 - WSO Weekly Wrap Up

In case you missed them, here're some of last week's most popular topics:

My boss just tore me a new one and I don't know what to do differently
Post By @lizlemon"

feel like I'm stuck, no matter what I do. I'm working very hard for this guy who is constantly displeased, while also taking a summer class and networking my ass off in my spare time to land something in IB/PE next summer. It'd be really nice to have him in my corner as a reference, but it's getting to the point where I literally cannot stand him as a human being. How do you deal with a person like that, as an intern, who might have a huge say in your future?

Do you ever stop and think if the hours are worth it?
Post By @williamthesnake"

The money in finance is ok, but it is not that amazing considering all that you are giving up. On weekends, I am so tired that I just do not want to do anything really and just want to relax. I am not sure whether I want to look back on my 20s and think that all I did was work.

“Demolition” (2015) Movie Review: Investment Banker Turned Construction Worker
Post By @Alibabes56"

Either investment banking really sucks, or the industry lacks good Wall Street therapists. Either way, this movie shows the strange turns that the grieving process can take for a truly desperate person.

LinkedIn losing credibility?
Post By @mCobb"

I can not help but notice that more people on LinkedIn are posting content that does not belong there, such as posting pictures of their kids or getting engaged. To me, this devalues LinkedIn to the level of where the rest of the social media or networking websites are.

6 REAL Habits I've Observed From Self-Made Millionaires
Post By @thebrofessor"

Business Insider (and Forbes to a lesser extent) are flooding the younger generation with all of these seemingly simple ways to become a millionaire (see "13 Habits of Self-Made Millionaires"), and they are usually written by journalists, not millionaires; so beware of treating them as gospel.

How to find fast and healthy food court meals (even if you're crazy busy)
Post By @Alistair-Clark"

I learned something crazy the other day: high-level Ironman triathletes pee on their bikes during races. In the middle of a 112-mile ride, they'll just let loose all over their $12,000 Cervelo bike. These people sound insane, but I sort of understand why they do it. While I have never peed while riding a bike, I have definitely been so committed to achieving a goal that I would not let anything get in the way.

A Day on the Boston Commuter Bus (Short Story)
Post By @Joejohnsonpo"

Now that there is extra room, either you or me has to move seats.

Uber in the Air
Post By @Nick Naylor"

Has anyone used this service before? This is a niche market and will never be truly comparable to something like Uber, but might it have any longevity? Or is Blade going to be a short-lived company capitalizing on the current market for services on-demand?

Attending Tuck @ Dartmouth in the fall, after being waitlisted. Ask me anything (AMA)
Post By @OB"

A big piece of what resulted in me feeling more comfortable, as well as applying only to Tuck, was the fact that the students at Tuck (and graduates) acted as though they had a genuine interest in helping me out. I was thinking, "All these Tuck people are absurdly nice. What's the deal?"

GMAT Prep Courses, Manhattan GMAT vs. Veritas
Post By @halfstep"

When it comes to self-knowledge, I am very much a learning by doing kind of guy. I do very well from practicing loads of questions. Given my learning preference, which course is more suitable for me?
