First of all Warwick is a target. There's a HUGE difference between being at Warwick and being at St. Andrews. Second of all apply and see, no harm in trying! At worst you land an internship and either have to do a Master's or intern at other places for the year until you can start working FT.
AM and WM are two totally completely career paths and I think you should understand that. Success in WM is based on sales skills/relationship management & consistency. What drives success in AM is moreso based on your ability to drive returns and add value to a pod/team.
Why do you want to do AM at a BB specifically? It is far better to do AM at an actual asset manager like Blackrock, Wellington or Fidelity Intl. With your experience, you should be okay (I'm guessing you go to Durham) but I'd consider applying for summers where you can too because FT AM seats (that aren't from converted summers) are few and far between. This year BlackRock opened their FT applications and blanket rejected the entire cohort because they're full from converted summers.
Im assuming I won’t qualify for a decent number of SAs but I’ll do that where I can. Would the timeline on that be 2022 SA then 2023 FT start, or would they ever let you go full time right after the SA?
There are hardly any AM off-cycles. I don't think I've ever seen one tbh. It doesn't make sense for the business model (OCs are used for additional labour for potentially busy deal periods with potential FT conversion as a bonus).

Bump
Bump, similar position
not UK based, but I think that it might be difficult without a solid name on your CV
Do you think there's anything I can do to boost myself?

Thanks! I think I’m more interested in the AM type of work but is that more competitive?
Yes, fewer seats, more "prestigious"
Following, im in a very similar position.

A fair few places allow final years to apply.
Depends on the firm, very few allow immediate start but some do Jan start.
If you really want to do AM though, you could try to go for ER/IB where you can. Plenty of people exit into AM from those.
Also are off cycles the easy way in?

OCs might be easier than FT, but not easy lol.
Ok thanks a lot! I thought without a proper internship though I’d be dead in the water for IB, and I find AM much more appealing anyway.
