Advice on picking a school for a masters in Math/CompSci to get a quant position at DE Shaw or Renaissance

I want to get a quant position at DE Shaw or Renaissance but I have already graduated from college; I already have two years of jobs experience as a financial and data analyst but my undergrad GPA is poor. I reason that to make myself more appealing I need to get a masters in math or computer science; if anyone has any better advice it would be much appreciated; currently trying to pick the best school for a masters degree to get into top hedge funds as a quant

Typically the better schools have more competition for masters programs.

You will probably not get a job a Rentech without a PHD in most cases. Rentech also typically hires top professors in their mathematical field. So unless you have a PHD in math from Harvard or MIT you are probably out of luck with Rentech.

Looking at a longer timeline a MBA might help you get your foot in the door to IB/HF.  Rentech is probably one of the hardest jobs to get in finance so don't sweat it if you get rejected. (99.999% of the people on this website would probably get rejected by Rentech)

If you can get into a top PHD (H,S,MIT, Berk) program and have an amazing advisor and do amazing research you might be in reach. Otherwise I would look for a more attainable career at a less competitive HF
