BB Frankfurt vs. MM London
I have an offer from a BB in Frankfurt and a top MM in London (think Baird, WB, non-RX HL) for an internship, which I plan to convert to a FT role. I go to a target and have previous EB internship experience.
I really want to live in London long-term, but the MM internship is the only thing I've gotten in London. BBs/EBs in general are the better fit for me personally, but I'd be willing to suck it up and stay for a year, before lateraling to BB/EB.
My question is how much I'd actually limit myself in terms of exit opps? Is MF still a viable path after lateraling? How difficult would it be to even lateral to BBs after 9-12 months?
How much do you think choosing MM LDN over BB FFM would disadvantage me in the long run?
Anyone?
Think of it this way: Location is easier to switch than banks. You already have a BB offer, convert that to full time, grind it out in Frankfurt and lateral to London office in a year or so. You don't know what the lateral hiring will be a year from now or if it would be easier. Worst case, you still would be be able to work at London MM after your BB internship in case you don't convert FT and still gives you the option to lateral to BB later. I wouldn't worry about MF recruiting at this point. Enjoy your summer, don't overthink into the future. Cheers!
Honestly I don’t know if i’m going crazy... Dude it’s an internship. Take the MM offer, grind your ass, get the FT offer then reapply to BB in LDN with that offer in hand. Yes it’s not a BB but that experience is still impeccable and will still look very nice on your CV. However you are not selling yourself short at all if you accept these MM offers too I must say!
