Brady and Tampa
I do not like Brady nor do I dislike him but I am intrigued by him playing for Tampa. May be I am more interested in watching him play now because he is an old guy like me. He is holding his own in Tampa and for his age of 43, his play is quite remarkable. At the moment, Tampa Bay is 4-2 and in first place in their division while New England is below 500 for the first time since 2002. I still think signing Cam will work out for the Pats, though.
Amazing how much better the Bucs are with him. They traditionally are one of the least disciplined teams in the league. That's about culture and coaching. Several times, a great athlete but problem child would go from the Bucs to the Pats and they would immediately be a much better player, behave well, etc. The culture at One Buc Place just sucks. But you can see how much more accountable TB12 makes them all.
Interesting shot on TV today. They were up 38-10, both teams just took out their starting QBs, and Aaron Rodgers was standing on the sideline wearing a ballcap just watching. Brady was on the bench watching plays from his last series on the laptop. He was winning 38-10 and he was just as intense at that point as any other in the game. He brings that attitude and requires that of his teammates. If they don't respond he chews them out. If he doesn't trust them, he won't throw them the ball. That's one reason he's so great.
He's a much better QB than Jameis Winston, obviously, but I think the leadership has as much or more to do with their improvement.
I am probably one of the abnormal NY fans (Giants fan) who actually happens to be a huge Tom Brady fan.
His stats don’t even tell the whole story. Like you mentioned, his leadership, commitment, and competitiveness can not be rivaled. That alone he is way better than Winston. The Chargers comeback is a perfect example. Brady throws a pick 6 and they end up exploding to win in 2nd half. Winston would have shrugged it off and threw 3 more picks.
It's just wild how Brady is able to do essentially what any other QB can do in terms of prep and discipline, yet it almost seems like no one else does.
In comparison to other athletes, you have a guy like Tiger/Lebron would I feel had a physical edge over others they played with; yet Brady is basically an everyday guy.
I am also a Giants fan but they are pretty bad.
Brady is alright, not as good as Nick Foles but he's alright.
So I've lived in Tampa for 28 yrs. From the Boston area literally 10 minutes from Gillette Stadium and have always been / will be a Pats fan. I've never been a Bucs fan but want them to do well as it's good for the community and most of my friends are Bucs fans. On the Bucs broadcasts, you hear Troy Aikman talk about how different it is for Tom playing for a team that is highly penalized vs his former Pats. This area has a big buzz going right now. Funny they used to hate TB, now they love him.
These guys are all professional athletes. They're all amazing at what they do. But TB12 GOAT just has the discipline over a long period of time that separates him from everyone. He also makes great real time decisions in stressful situations. Certainly not the most gifted athlete (neither was another Boston legend named Larry Bird - although LB had unreal talent off the charts). Sounds strange to say, but most of Brady's success comes from inner competitiveness, discipline, and I think he just cares more. You can see how disgusted he gets at his teammates when they don't do their job. Most of that comes down to productive practices. The system in NE is such where they win their games on Wednesday - Friday. Their prep is unreal. Every player and team could do that, they just don't.
Remember Belichek in their last Super Bowl was agonizing on how long it would take to open the roof (they waited until the National Anthem to start opening) as it effected the wind and it changed which direction he wanted his team to defend at the start of the game. It's the littel things that anyone can do. Brady grew up in a system that just does them better. And that's who he is.
I think a lot of people questioned the Brady signing and for good reason: the guy is 43 years old. I would think that ticket sales (and other sales) would be phenomenal if we were in a normal environment.
prepandemic season ticket sales jumped like 10k the day they signed him.
Agreed on every point. Being a Pats fan growing up in the Brady Belichick era, getting to watch the two of them dominating was just awesome. Not just the two of them, also. Brady makes good players great, and Belichick surrounds himself with a great coaching staff and is supported by really smart guys like Ernie and Josh. Brady is a phenomenal player and I absolutely believe he can win elsewhere, but seeing him work within such a great system and become something almost unstoppable was awesome.
I think yesterday's result convinced non believers in his ability to succeed, even at his age. Greenbay was undefeated until yesterday. I assume he will get better as the season goes on because he will have more experience with the new guys.

Sure looked like the GOAT yesterday. Cam Newton on the other hand looked like a box of rocks. Amazes me he still can't go through his progressions without panicking.
Dude is amazing and going into this year, I would have said that Tampa made a mistake signing him. I was wrong.
Tom Brady got a girl in trouble and left her.
Tom Brady is a great quarterback, one of the best to ever play.
