Data Analytics Opps at Hedge Funds?
I categorize myself as a product data scientist / technical data analyst. That is, most of what I do now is experimentation (A/B, hypothesis testing), and very light ML (up to regressions). As far as technical skills, much more heavy on Python and SQL to build data pipelines and summarize metrics.
I'm curious as to what opportunties would exist at funds where my capacity is not so much a quant researcher, but someone who maybe is technical enough to be self-sufficient but also work with investment professionals on understanding data and how it may be used in decisioning ('quantamental', or something like that)
Are there many positions out there that would find such a profile useful, and how would they go about searching for them? (would you also say it's more equity-specific vs. other asset classes)?
Some of the larger funds may have data teams that look at usability of data or at extracting useful
patterns from data that PMs may use. I'd recommend having a look at their websites.
