Transferring From Tulane?
Hello everyone,
I’m an incoming freshman at Tulane University and I’m interested in high finance. I’m aware that Tulane is not even a semi target but from LinkedIn it seems that every year some kids end up getting into IB, S&T and ER through the green bull investment club. I understand that it’s really early to consider transferring but I’ve had a major update that I think would make me really competitive for transferring to some target schools. Outside of school I’m very interested in international relations, policy and political science so I’m currently in leadership positions of a student led think tank and lobbying organization. This organization wasn’t that impressive when I was applying to college but in the past two months we’ve made a lot of progress. Currently we’re working with the Harvard Chan School of Public Health to pass some bills in CA, NY, NJ, MA, IL and eventually on the federal level. Also we’re negotiating a deal to be acquired by the RAND Corporation which is one of the largest and most respected think tanks in the world. Given these updates I’m thinking of applying as a political science/ IR major to target schools where the major doesn’t matter much for recruiting. Would love if anyone could provide insights on recruiting at Tulane and whether or not I should try to transfer.
Thanks!

Bro it least give it a chance before talking about transferring. Tulane is a solid school and if you have the work ethic to get into IB in the first place, you should be more than capable of breaking in from Tulane.
Yeah I’m definitely bugging out a bit. I’m leaning more towards staying at Tulane and breaking in from there but like you mentioned it’s too early to tell.
All good man, coming from a non-target as well so I understand. Have a couple of good friends at Tulane who were able to land great IB SA roles while having an overall good college experience thus far in a great city. The fact that you already are showing interest in the industry will help you come into the Fall semester 10x more focused and ahead of the curve. Keep your head down and grind, but don’t lose sleep over it
I know lots of people who went to tulane and they were able to place. If you're a hard worker it's possible to land something solid
Yeah that’s definitely what it looks like from LinkedIn and other stuff I’ve seen. If you don’t mind me asking do you know any specifics about placement at Tulane or where the people you know have ended up. It seems it would be easier to place in Houston offices just due to proximity and there’s a focus on energy at the school but I’m not really sure.
From what I remember a lot were for houston (Jeffries, wells, tph, bmo, rbc) but a lot went to NYC. Some EBs and BBs (not many GS/JPM).
