A way of life

First, let me say I have been perusing this site for awhile and the information I have gathered has been invaluable. The posts I have read haven't just been about finance but a way of life and I need some life advice right now more than ever.

I go to a non-target and for the last two years I have totally immersed myself in finance. This summer my efforts finally came to fruition and I landed a boutique PE SA gig in NYC. I am totally prepared for this and I am very excited.

However, my girlfriend of three years just broke up with me. Long story short, she is a bitch and I wish I'd never met her. I am starting my new internship on Wednesday and I need something to motivate me. More than anything, I need some unrepentant chauvinism. So, what should I do?

I can't post her picture. She is good looking. Conservatively, she is an 8 out of 10. She is hot and has been a big part of my life for awhile. I like what Old grand-dad said. I think, "fuck bishes and get money" is a great response and great advice. should I totally stop talking to her. is it worth it to try with this person or should i just forget?

you just said she's a bitch and that you wish you'd never met her

Ok. I know people like to come in here to cut up and drop some funny lines and honestly, my first thought after reading what the OP wrote was to turn on the 'swagon' spot light on the top of the WSO building. Thankfully he made it in here before I had to give him a buzz on the blinking red swagon phone.

Anyways, I have to say I feel a bit bad for you. I spent nearly 4 years in a relationship with a girl I thought I would marry and eventually have kids with. That didn't work out and I can tell you it's not always easy to deal with. I think about here from time to time and it brings back some feelings, but you just have to be real with yourself. I can honestly say that looking back, I'm unsure if we would have worked out as a couple long term...we are just really different and she expects a lot more attention then I've ever been known to give. The point there is, I still think she is awesome and nearly perfect yet I'm able to see how it might not have worked...at least you have the benefit of saying she was a bitch and possibly being angry at her, which is a very powerful emotion and a great device to use when trying to get over someone.

Just remind yourself, you have important things going on in your life now and focus on that, focus on you. Whether that means brushing up on modeling skills, working out, traveling, drinking with buddies or hooking up with randoms...just take care of yourself for a bit and no one else.

As someone above pointed out, the guys always have the upper hand because we typically are less invested emotionally then girls are...so you can move on faster. With that said, the phrase "best way to get over a girl is to get under another" comes to mind.

Also, listen to this song, think about your future and just enjoy the moment...

Regards
