About to enter workforce, need some advice regarding ARGUS
Hello all,
Hope everyone and their friends and family are staying safe and healthy during these crazy times. I have a quick question about potentially getting ARGUS certified. I am a college senior about to graduate in May and have been on the job hunt for awhile now. I've been fortunate enough to have interned at both a small real estate investment firm and most recently one of the big firms on the industrial brokerage side, where it was looking like I was going to be able to land a position after graduating but now who knows. Anyways, I have the opportunity to get ARGUS certified for $300 which includes all the training courses and I am wondering if I should jump on it before I graduate. In a perfect world I would get a job working as either a research analyst or financial analyst at a large brokerage, specializing in either multifamily or industrial. My question is would ARGUS certification be necessary in a brokerage analyst position? Anyways, hope everyone stays safe during these crazy times.
Thanks
For $300, absolutely do it, do not wait. People pay like $2500 when not a student to do. Some jobs, including brokerage analyst, require it. Especially if doing office/retail (if you go MF, doubt you will ever see it). Many banks, institutional investors, brokerages require someone to use it. Some jobs flat out say Argus required, its stupid not to be certified if you have the time and $300.
May you really need it? Who knows! But it looks good on a resume regardless. In the training you actually learn some very practical real estate stuff about leasing and expenses. It's useful just for that in my opinion.
In short, DO IT!!!
