Accenture SI Analyst vs MC
Are the Tech & Systems Integration Analyst and Business Analyst (MC) roles very different? SI analysts from Accenture have been telling me that the roles are so similar that you can go between them and apply for the same positions on projects.
Are they paid the same amount as well?
TC is very different from MC/SI. TC is very focused on the hands on tech stuff, more than SI. although there are projects where TC and SI have similar roles. TC/MC overlap is pretty much non-existent.
SI on the other hand, there is a huge variety on the project roles youre given. it can relate to TC stuff to MC stuff. one end is very TC or tech heavy things, and the other is similar to MC work. However, the reason why the roles are so similar to MC is because ACN is still known for its tech expertise. they simply do not get enough work in non-tech MC field. because of this, most of ACN projects are some how related to tech, even the MC roles. So at the end of the day, SI and MC do have similar roles, but there are MC roles that SI analysts just simply cannot get staffed on.
It is true that you can go from SI to MC (or MC to SI if you really wanted to, there are people who have) but this process is a lot harder than people think it is. you first need to get placed in a business analyst role as an SI, then get senior management (at least snr mgr level, if not higher) to "back you up" during the process. the senior execs are the ones who push your paper work through, so be ready to get someone who really wants to push you through.
for the pay, MCDP usually gets paid around 70k, but the SI position have been salaries somewhere between 65-75k, so it always depends on how well you negotiate. but in the senior manager and up levels, its true that MC gets paid more than SI.

MC is slightly worse since it's more desirable.
So SIs on average make a little bit more? What can one expect to make as a Consultant level in a big city (Chicago/New York)?
