Accenture Strategy - Seattle Internship
First post after joining 12 months ago. Excited to start contributing.
I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on my strategy to break into Accenture's Strategy group in the Seattle office for a summer 2015 internship resulting in a full-time offer starting January, 2017. I'm also applying to Deloitte, McKinsey, and BCG in Seattle (Location is very important to me). I would appreciate any advice and knowledge that may be helpful (other firms or industries, even MM IB, that would help land a long-term position in PE/Corp Dev in Seattle).
Background:
3.83 GPA with plans to graduate December, 2016 from a non-target school as a BA of finance with a minor in CS. I've worked at a large, unaffiliated, student-run VC for 14 months and have worked on five successful deals, and countless ones that didn't go through. Also, worked with many portfolio companies on value-add projects ranging from modeling acquisition targets to analyzing customer demographics. I believe I am well qualified. My concern is that I will not get a first round interview at any of my top choices due to the fact that I go to a non-target school.
What I've done:
- Met with Senior Analyst in Strategy at Accenture for informational interview. Things went very well. Allowed me to use his name as a reference in the Accenture application. Had a few follow up conversations that went very well, too.
- Set up a Skype meeting with the Accenture Seattle MD. Would appreciate any advice on how I should conduct this call. I already know about their culture, groups, work life balance, compensation, project types, etc. I want to be genuine with this call and not ask repeat questions.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
