Women's hair styles for superday interview

I have a superday interview coming up and I'd appreciate any advice on this totally superficial but possibly relevant subject...

I've got some curly ass hair. Like really curly. I like it... I think it suits my personality. I'm wondering though, for my superdays in NY, if I should blow-dry it/straighten it or whatever it is that girls do to look more presentable.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I always wear mine super conservative, either a bun, french chignon, braid, or ponytail. You can't go wrong with a bun honestly. The main thing is to look clean and presentable, slick back flyaways, etc. I think the most important thing to keep in mind is that you want to dress well and be presentable but not to the point that people notice your outfit more than YOU. Make sense? If you go to a beauty supply store the girls should be able to help you pick up clips and hair stuff to get fast and easy updo's. Practice styling it before you go too to see what you feel most comfortable with. Good luck!

Curly hair looks horrible on women to be honest.

agreed

In general, super-curly shit is not on point. I don't buy the whole "let it match your personality/body type" line most girls love to throw around because the chances of you actually having the body type that makes it look like anything other than trashy is zero to nil.

Soft curls or wavy hair is gorgeous. Plain straight gets really old really quickly, especially when you see 900 people with identical styles one after another.

I am permanently behind on PMs, it's not personal.

Does conservatism = look more white and not "ghetto"? *snark

As a note stay away from any hairstyle Cassie or Rhianna has. Garbage on so many levels.

I had a MD that was a black woman and she would wear her hair pressed or in a pony tail. If you have kinkier hair then wear it even all around and not partial braids on the side or top. Also stay away from multicolor hair. I have not seen that many afros.

Here are some examples:

What looks good to wear: http://howtohairbraiding.com/natural-hair-braids/

Not so good to wear: http://howtohairbraiding.com/natural-hair-braids/

Main thing is to make sure your resume is fire and you interview well because at the end of the day that is mostly what will matter.

P.S. You would get bonus points from me if your wear natural hair during the interview. Just sayin'

Don’t extrapolate beyond the statement, conservatism, means exactly that, conservatism.

As far as the links... I'm not sure if I did in fact see what you did there... or if that was an actual mistake lol.

But sidenote... I think I have to make one of these for Black guys... Cause I'm all types of confused on what "conservative" means as far as that goes.

Yeah, I've heard of MDs (haven't really met them) having natural hair. I would attribute that to a higher position giving someone the opportunity to have more control, authority, and flexibility. That's why I was asking about entry level specifically.

Thanks, but the links are the same.

Hopefully, I'll run into someone like you during the interview process.

Connor:

Connor, that's not quite the hairstyle I'm going for. I'm not comfortable with wearing Afros personally. I simply listed them as an example. I would lean more towards braids or twists if I were to use my natural hair.

same question for men are blond highlights for men allowed? or will they think you are gay?

you could avoid coming across gay by only frosting the tips. Go to a salon and tell your hairstylist: "Just the tip, please". She'll know exactly what you mean

anaismalcolm..... as always.... pics or you dont exist.

That aside as long as its not obnoxious it wont matter.

I'm a natural blonde female as well, you only need highlights or the hair will grow dry later on in life. I think you need to talk to your hair stylist and tell her you work in a conservative office and what her recommendation is.

I think that there is a difference in having very light blonde hair when it is extremely obvious that it was dyed in comparison to those that are naturally fairer. There are still natural platinum blondes (although very few) and If it looks natural and not trashy then I think it is fine. From the sound of it, you would be taken just as seriously if you went back to your original hair color - just keep it classy.
