Accounting at Cornell

Hi, really sorry but I am a novice in finance so please excuse my ignorance. I am looking for some help to land interviews in ibanking/consulting.I would like to know which accounting courses I should take at Cornell in order to land interviews in IB/consulting? What would be the minimum amount?

Also, I took a course called "Principles of Finance" at UCLA extension a long-time ago and I don't know if it compares to "Financial Accounting" (AEM 2210) at Cornell. If the course I took at UCLA is not equivalent, I would to take again a new introductory course in accounting...

Here is the course description for the UCLA extension course:

"X 1A is the first part in the two-course Principles of Accounting sequence and provides an introduction to accounting theory, principles, and practice. Instructions covers the uses, communication, and processing of accounting information, as well as the recording, analyzing, and summarizing procedures used in preparing balance sheets and income statements. Additional topics include accounting for purchases and sales, receivables and payables, cash and inventories, plant and equipment, depreciation and natural resources, intangible assets, and payrolls. Sole proprietorships and partnerships also are examined. "

Here is the AEM 2210 (Financial Accounting) course description at Cornell:

"Comprehensive introduction to financial accounting concepts and techniques, intended to provide a basic understanding of the accounting cycle, elements of financial statements, underlying theory of GAAP, and financial statement interpretation. Topics include methods of recording inventory, receivables, depreciation, bonds, and equity. Requires two evening prelims and a comprehensive final; weekly homework assignments."

Thank you very much for your help.

I go to cornell and will tell you there is no set amount of finance you need to take. I would say if you can, pass out of this class and go straight to aem finance with curtis. That will give you the best knowledge of finance for interviews. Honestly every AEM, econ and pam kid takes 2210. It wont set you apart at all.

Basically take financial, managerial, and finance and you should be fine.
