Accounting -->IBD/MBB (undergrad)

Hey everyone!

Im an accounting major at a Canadian target (Ivey/McGill/Queens). Unfortunately, I realized a bit too late that I do not want to pursue a career in accounting. I have a 3.8 GPA and a good CV. I think I have a decent chance at obtaining an MBB/BB/EB offer based on the success of other students I know. I'm about to start a big four audit internship this summer and I'm entering my last year (graduating May 2019).

I would love any advice on how to approach the recruiting process for MBB/IB. Here are the options I'm considering.

1) Apply for the FT roles and hope for the best
2) take the fall semester off to complete a more relevant internship, apply for a summer 2019 MBB/IB internship, and hopefully earn a return offer for winter 2020

The first option is preferable as I would graduate on time. However, the second option allows me to complete one additional internship before applying for an MBB/IB internship and increases my chances of obtaining a full time offer.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated!
