Acquisition Analyst in Chicago - Compensation Questions/Advice

While working on my UG (BBA in Finance) I worked as a financial analyst with a brokerage team within (JLL/CBRE/HFF). I worked on balancing 40-55 hour work week with school. I recently graduated in December 2016 from one of the larger Texas public schools. I have an opportunity in Chicago with an PE shop for an Acquisition analyst. My next call will bring up salary expectations... I worked on the same asset type during my brokerage tenure what is a fair compensation for Chicago? Currently I am at 50k with 30% bonus - this is in Texas by the way. Appreciate the info guys!

$65k should be the floor for a reputable shop with good deal flow. I would keep your expectations low for your bonus potential, maybe a max of 20%.

Don't get to caught up on the comp right now. Deal flow should be your first priority. You are early in your career and the more you learn now will greatly increase your earning potential down the road.
