Acquisitions vs Asset Management - Experience for Entrepreneurship

Sorry in advance as this topic has been covered ad nauseam, but I couldn’t find any answers relating to this. In the context of starting your own fund later on, which position would provide better experience? I realize that acquisitions has better earning potential and is more interesting for those that like doing deals, but it is a relatively small (albeit important) portion of the investment horizon. What skillset is more important and/or harder to learn through experience once on your own? Thanks.
