ACT Score for PE Recruiting
Hi everyone,
Curious to see what you think the minimum ACT score is to not be seriously dinged for PE recruiting. I intend to target buyout shops in the UMM space, but would also like to hear what you think the threshold is for other fund sizes. I assume MF/UMM funds have a higher minimum threshold compared to a MM fund. I took the ACT twice in high school with a score of 30 and a composite score of 32. Let me know what you think, thanks.
In case its relevant to the discussion, some other things about my profile:
Graduated Summa Cum Laude, played D1 basketball, will be starting as a BB IBD analyst in July
My superscore was only a 29 yet I was able to break in. Granted, my math was a perfect score and science was a 35. Not as important in PE as it is in consulting. 32 is still solid enough to list on resume but I don't think its a make or break factor.
Just list 32 and call it a day - that won't prevent an UMM job
^ 96th percentile on a standardized test is more than enough. lol
What about listing my 30? That was 94th percentile when it was taken I believe.
Just list your highest score, they a) won't care to ask about additional scores & b) couldn't prove it otherwise
Do PE firms ask graduated students what their HighSchool ACT score was?
Feel free to only show your top score, but be honest. I’ve seen PE firms request proof before, despite the candidates being out of college at the time
can you list GMAT instead of ACT/SAT or do firms require it?
I've heard GMAT is fine
Just list the 32. Nobody asked me about SAT / ACT scores when I recruited for buyside roles. Then again, wasn't going for MF roles.
What sizes of funds did you recruit for?
