Adjunct Professor

Has anyone ever become an adjunct professor after working in the finance industry? I know the pay to be an adjunct is basically nothing (like $5-10k for a semester), so it's effectively volunteering, but was curious if anyone has done it and what the process was like to get the job. What kind of qualification were needed, how did you go about getting the job, did it ever help you in your day job?
