Admit situation from Canada
Hey guys I just wanted to ask you monkeys on my chances based on my story and determination on whether I can get into a decent MBA program which continues to lead me towards Investor Relations or the like.
2.6CGPA Hist MAJ, Top 5 Canadian University
GMAT 650
Investors relations at a small cap Chinese U.S. public company with insider knowledge on the general framework of the integrity and people behind these.
President of Intercultural club at University linking international and local students for activities and community engagement
I'm not looking to be a banker but rather continue in investor relations or similar analyst role. But seriously need a change of credentials from my B.A. with no educated background in Business
I hope my story within the public company and how it has impacted reverse mergers along with the overall insider China story will be a benefit for my admissions?
Anyone have any schools they can think of?
Appreciate any input, thanks guys
Short answer? No chance.
With a 2.6 you'd have a hard time getting into ANY accredited MBA. Your GMAT would be fine for a state school MBA.
That said, generally, a state school MBA will improve your career prospects in the school's geographical area - the further you go from the school the less weight it carries. You could have a chance at an average program if you've got solid work exp, solid reco's, and solid essay.
Thanks for the wake up calls.
What would anyone recommend at this point? I want to get a Business background, never knew my passion for analyzing statements, finances, and human interactions until I became the IR and thus my really botched UGRAD GPA.
I could just start studying towards an accounting credential but I am not interested in becoming an accountant. I live with my regret now but I find that I am at a dead end? Unless something radical like beginning a second degree?
My end goal is to be investor relations or related analyst field and I have 1.5 years of IR currently under the belt.
