Advice about choosing firm to start career
Hi,
This question is more focused towards the real estate area, but also for the firms as a whole. If you are starting out after a master in finance in London, would you prefer to start in Morgan Stanley, Ares management, Tristan Capital? What key factors would you consider when choosing one?
Thanks!

Thanks, I agree with you, I went to assessment centre with MS but I was not lucky... So if MS is out, would you choose Ares or a pure REPE like Tristan Capital?

do you have offers from all 3?
Since you said you're interviewing, it's safe to assume you don't have offers. For example, what's the point of choosing between the 3 if you don't have access to them (this was evident after you got dinged from MS). I'd suggest pouring your energy into prep / learning about the firm and people instead of asking strangers who they'd rather work for.
As a general rule of thumb, the things I look for (no order): 1. The type of work I'll be doing 2. The type of ppl I'll work with (you NEED to like the ppl..it's unbelievable how much this seriously matters) 3. Compensation (this isn't very high on my list but you should at least be getting paid market for your level 4. Is this the type of role that will allow you to grow and further your career or at least allow you to move into your career of choice?
Thanks, I'll make sure I avoid any firm with people like you.
