Advice before starting internship at development and investment firm
Hi all
I am a junior who will be starting an internship at a major development and investment firm in a week and would be interested to know what I need to do to stand out. Would be curious to know what type of things people who have received full time spots as interns did. I will be on the development side during the internship.
could potentially move to full time role
Raise your hand to help on anything and everything.. great way to get exposure. If you have any downtime spend it studying the firms internal materials (models/databases).
Most of all enjoy and interact with your coworkers!
I would try and research all of the firm's deals and projects that you can. Aggressive google searching and use of any databases you have access to. This includes reading the LinkedIn profiles of the people you will be working with. It is not easy to "Get up to speed" on a new firm, so you want to try and learn as much as you can. Trust me, seeming like you are "in the know" can go along way to being viewed as both competent and interested in the firm (the latter being a big part of why you could be up for the FT role)..
