Advice for a CFA® /CA,CPA

Hi Monkeys,

I am in mid 20's currently working in MM M&A in Canada, looking to complete my CFA® in due course, and have recently received my CA, CPA designation (thinking about learning C++ and Python myself). How can I best leverage myself to break into a HF?

  1. Top 10 MBA 2. Masters/degree in econometrics
  2. Alternatives?

I see my biggest weakness is a lack of extremely in depth mathematical knowledge and applicable buy side experience. My strengths obviously are a strong understanding of fundamental analysis and financial theory.

Regards,

Thank yo for the reply. I am of the opinion that beggars cant be choosers and that the fund I choose is a function of which fits my current experience. In other words, I like to keep my options open so if you could describe how to leverage my experience to fit a L/S equity fund vs a global macro fund I would appreciate it.

Im guessing a CMT and/or econometrics is more applicable for a macro fund. But i would like to weigh that against expanding my skillset for a L/S fund (MBA?). Im assuming C++ and Python are mandatory for both?
