Advice for Starting Remotely as an Analyst

Title pretty much says it all.

Recently started full-time at a BB and am wondering if anyone has tips for starting as an Analyst remotely. I have read many of the threads posted about how to be a top performing Analyst, but the good ones are from pre-COVID times. Any additional tips for working from home would be appreciated!

Set up a regular time on the calendar weekly for calls with various team members to stay on top of things / catch up. Organize outlook inbox with lots of folders, I prefer people's names / teams but some people do it by project, etc. Also get email on your phone if you don't have it already, makes it a lot easier to step away from computer occasionally

Leverage precedent materials as much as possible. Go back and look at old deal files for similarly structured transactions.

Also, like the comment above says, use lots of folders and rules. Be careful with your rules to make sure they are not pulling in unintended emails.

I also organize my inbox by conversations, it groups email chains together. I find it helps, but I know a lot of people do not use this feature.

Also, take all of your notes in Word/OneNote, writing them down just makes it harder to find them in the future. Then you can give these notes to next year's analyst when you are training them.

If I am being honest, wfh has been harder for me in terms of those types of mistakes. In the office, I used to print everything out and review that way, but that is no longer viable.

Nowadays, I make sure to give every single one of my email attachments another look.

Full disclosure: this is an area where I could use advice on as well. Pretty wild to think I have spent half of my time wfh from my July 2019 start date.
