Advice needed, do i stay or do i go?
Hi guys,
I graduated this summer and went straight into a job at a MM ib and was hired into a middle office function that i wasn't particularly keen on but was better than nothing. However at this bank you rotate around a lot and I rotated for 6 weeks in a trading desks strategy team and did really well well so much so that the head of desk and my line manager said they would like me to apply for a job on the desk they had opening up depending on headcount.
However it does not appear that a space will open up as soon as i'd hoped and i feel like i' wasting my time now i've landed on my hiring desk. I still maintain my good network on the trading desk(know a fair few of the sales guys and traders very well) and am still doing occasional ad hoc work for them.
So the question is do i stick it out on this desk for a while waiting for something to open up there (knowing the the desk is not a "growth desk" for the bank), with the risk that the longer it goes the more my performance may be forgotten or do i start looking elsewhere with confidence that i could get a job in the same field.
Thanks
