Advice needed for whether to address unemployment reason on resume
Hi guys, I quit my job in Sep last year due to personal / family-related circumstances (multiple superiors from the firm can corroborate the circumstances / provide references for my work product, etc). Since starting to recruit again after New Years, I've noticed that off of cold applications, I've been getting significantly fewer looks than I had in the past (compared to when I was recruiting mid-last year when I was employed), and I suppose one reason would be the employment gap in my resume since Sep of last year. Should I provide an explanation of the circumstances as a bullet pt on my resume - would that help? Not sure what par for the course is here, as I've never gone through this before (4+ years of continuous work exp since college). Really need to land something soon, as I'm nearing the 6 mth mark of nor working; starting to get really worried. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

the economy is about to dive into a recession...companies are in the mode to lower costs. you might have to lower your sights and survive until things turn around...6-12 months away
Thanks, curious about others' thoughts. Have heard conflicting opinions in the past few days
You don't want to divulge information that's too personal on the resume, but if you can put something down to account for your time while staying on the right side of the professional line, I think that's wise. Example:
Caretaker (Sep 2019 - Present): Voluntarily left prior role to care for elderly family member
Now the reader knows i) you weren't laid off or fired from your past role, and ii) you didn't take leave to waste your time or because you couldn't keep your own personal life in order. No explanation or sob story - just a description of how you spent your time that lets the reader connect the dots on their own.
not advocating this per se, but a person i know was laid off and listed his employment gap as "garden leave" while he was still recruiting (which presents better than quitting due to personal reasons IMO). he said his background check came back with no issues; guessing the background check co didn't verify with the company that canned him whether there was a non-compete or not, not sure if this is always the case
