Advice Needed - Freshman at a very bad state school

Hey all. I'm going to be a freshman at a very bad state school next fall. I mean, it has nearly 98% acceptance rate- they pretty much check for a pulse for admission. I ended up matriculating there because they offered a decent scholarship (2 years tuition, housing stipend) and I couldn't afford the good school I got into (U of Washington).

Anyways, I'll be majoring in Finance and Japanese there but honestly the school has relatively little brand name its own region (Utah) let alone the financial world and I have no illusions that BBs and the like will not even look at my resume. I plan on getting as high a GPA as possible and combined with a decent lsat get into as prestigious a law school as I can.

Basically my question is the following: is it possible to "backdoor" into bulge brackets with a law degree? Will my mediocre undergrad be a black mark forever? Do lawyers hired ever have the opportunity for upward mobility into different financial areas? I do have interest in law, and I could enter there immediately after undergrad unlike b-school.

Thanks in advance and excuse my noobishness.

it will be a long ass road with lots of debt if you try to go JD > BB.

it will follow you, but if you make millions who cares

you're pretty much a lawyer for the long term

if you must stay at such school, you will have to network your ass off. and do 10x the amount of calling and everything under the sun to get that BB internship, all b/c your school has a 98% acceptance rate.

Get 4.0 GPA after your first year and transfer to a better school, either a target or at least a semi-target. If you do not get into one then get a 4.0 GPA sophomore year and apply to targets again. The debt load is worth it. You have very little chance of getting into BB from your current school. Why would you take on all the debt and extra work to get a JD if you want to work at a BB?

blah, blah blah. Stop complaining about your school, get off your ass and work hard, network and stomp on your competition. Don't take shit from nobody, especially some Ivy jerk off (Their really not that smarter than you).
