Advice needed: On financing final year of undergraduate
Hi everybody,
Thank you for checking this out. I am currently in a tough position and honestly, am lost, so any advice on how I should proceed is greatly appreciated.
I've dropped out of school back in October because my parents got a divorce and were no longer able/willing to contribute to my education. My mother has since been living abroad with family and my stepfather and I are not on speaking term. I've been homeless and basically couch surfing from one friend to another, working part-time jobs.
I am at a point where I know I need to get my sh*t together and find a way back to finish my degrees, but I am unsure how.
I am considering joining the military, but with much hesitation. On one hand, I see the benefits of a military experience: discipline, camaraderie, service, skillsets and training that's difficult obtain. On the other hand, the eight-year service commitment (transitioning from the millitary, back to school, then into a job while being in the reserve), my less than fully-patriotic motive, and my own ability to succeed/contrubute militarily concern me. But even with my reluctance about joining the military, I can not think of another way to finance my education.
I've been privileged enough to be unconcerned with tuition for my first three academic years, But now I feel highly ill-equipped to find financial stability and finish my degrees.
Any thoughts?
