After the internship...
Hey,
So I am a medical student and have just obtained my medical degree after 6 years of university. I was looking to move to the US to become a doctor and applications start in September 2017 for June 2018 intake. As such, I have 1 year to decide where I want to go with my life. Investment banking was something that interested me for quite some time and I thought I would attempt a placement/internship in anywhere that would take me.
I managed to clinch a summer internship in global operations middle office in Bank of America Merrill Lynch (London office). I am due to start this in 3 weeks and am looking forward to it immensely. My question is if I enjoy the internship and work my behind off, what are the chances of me actually getting a job in investment banking after? If i impress, are BAML likely to offer me anything afterwards? I understand these are quite broad questions, but if i want to think about completely changing my life's direction I would love some insight!
Best,
Simon
