Algo Trading Internship Experience- how would it help me in getting BB ib positions?

Hello,

I am a sophomore at a college - target school with gpa over 3.5
Despite my efforts to get an internship offer related to investment banking, I have so far not succeed in it.

I am soon starting an internship at a trading firm, not well known for algo trading. I believe it would be a great opportunity for me to be proficient in computer programming language. But I am worried how it would be helpful for me in getting BB offer for IBD in my junior year..

I have had past internships at entrepreneur (in my first year summer), prop trading, and investment firm (during my academic years). I have participated in investment clubs at the school as well.

I am just really afraid, looking at my peers getting really good offers, whether I have chances against them. Afterall, I heard that I would compete with people in same school for BB interviews..

So my point is whether algo trading internship would help me with skills relevant to IB and increase my chance of getting an offer from BB? As my family is in NY, I am really hoping for working by NY, especially in BB next summer. Thanks guys!

You're a sophomore...Get drunk, get laid, and network. You can worry about this stuff in a year if you don't get a SA spot as a junior.

You already have twice as many internships as most people your age, a good gpa, and a good school so that's nothing to worry about. Just be able to explain to the interviewers precisely why you want to do IBD when you have done so much interning in trading.
