Alright, how long do you think it will take me to find a job in NYC?
So here’s a little bit of my background information. I’m graduating from a top 20 law school in May. I have held two internships in finance: a 9-month stint in private equity, and 3 months in insurance (hopefully that counts). My undergrad degree is in the arts. (I know, it’s useless.) While in law school, I’ve taken a bunch of business courses. Like any reasonable human, I put them at the top of my resume.
I’m not looking for a “dream job.” I want a job that will be a good career builder. So, I’m not opposed to being an analyst or an entry-level dude. The only thing I need out of a first job is the opportunity to learn more about finance and banking. Pay is important, but money for alimony can come later. Basically, I wont turn down any halfway decent gig.
So, what are your thoughts?
I'm not sure listing the courses will help if anything your experience is better. Make sure you are detailed in that to show you know finance and all that. But what do you want to do? Business and finance are so broad
I'm confused as to why you went to law school if you want to work in banking? Why not work in law for a few years and try to break in (not super easy though) or over educate yourself and go to b-school after practicing for a few years?
