Am I right in feeling frustrated?

So basically I contacted this boutique in late Feb for a summer internship. Had a phone interview, and was told I'd know in a bit when to come in for an in-person interview. After that, nothing for 3 weeks, during which I followed up a couple times asking. Finally got a reply back asking if I could come in, to which I said yes, and then heard nothing again. I followed up every week either by email or phone, which were all ignored. Last Monday, I called asking if they'd be free to meet and that I was still interested. He said yea, I'll check my schedule and send you an email. A day rolls by and nothing. I send a follow-up on Wednesday and then get told the position was offered to someone already.

Is this normal procedure at all? Of course I was applying elsewhere but to be strung along like that and then not even given an interview is really degrading.

Edmundo Braverman:
LOL, they treated you like a fat chick.

Side note: I can't believe the username chimpanzee wasn't taken by now.

I literally laughed out loud at work, and got stared at. SB for you sir.

OP sadly it is true. Most people on wallstreet have an attention span of a goldfish. Don't take it personally. Give it a few more shots, don't get frustrated and grow a thick skin. Rejection is not the end of the world.

EB, even fat chicks get more action than most guys.

Yea, it's been said before but I guess trying to find a job/internship really is like dating... UFO, I don't think contacting them again in a few days will help, they've already got someone. Should I still be doing informational interviews at this point or just be upfront and say I'm looking for an internship?
