Am I taking way too long on tasks?

Intern in a coverage group, 1.5 weeks on my desk. I feel like I am taking super long on tasks that shouldn't take as long. for example, had to pull 78 different figures across 6 different companies from their historicals but took me 4 hours to do that. I am assuming an actual analyst would have done that in about 30 mins. Also, took I still ended up with two erroneous values out of those numbers so not like it was error-free work. I had access to bamsec so it is not like I had to go and manually search for the numbers. At this rate, I feel like there's no way in hell that I get a return offer.

Any suggestions on what I can do to improve my speed whilst also making sure I put in error-free work?

Step 1: Get off WSO
Step 2: Work in 45 minute sprints. Put your phone on do not disturb and out of your reach. Don't listen to music. Focus entirely on the one task that you are completing aiming to be 100% correct the first time you do it.
Step 3: Take a 10 minute break
Step 4: Check your work before submitting
Step 5: Repeat
Step 6: Stop worrying about it too much. The expectation for an intern is to fall somewhere between "not annoying" and "slightly useful"

Better take some extra time for the tasks and produce error-free work than handing over sth quickly with mistakes. Obv when you have a hard stop on an excercise, stick with it or give your superior a heads up if you think you can't make it on time.

What the other commenter said about having no distractions is a good point so start there. But you’re also an intern less than 2 weeks in. It used to take me forever to find stuff in filings even using BamSEC, but after 1000 times doing it you know exactly where to look in filings to find what you’re looking for. So yes you might be slow, and your goal should be to get faster and more familiar with where to look, but you can’t beat yourself up for not knowing how a 10K is structured when you’re a couple weeks into the job. You’ll be fine in time.
