Racist person? Almost for sure

Racist policies? Much harder to prove

While I agree with you mostly (I think the treatment of illegal immigrants is complete BS, like sure they "committed a crime" but it's far less of a crime than any non Native American's ancestors committed, also you don't get beat down for a speeding ticket. You get a ticket and pay a fine/ do some classes. Punishment should match the crime, but I digress), I was listening to The Portal (highly recommend) and listened to the Andrew Yang episode. While I'm not #YangGang4Lyfe and a believer UBI solves all human problems, something he said really stood out.

Andrew Yang:
The actual policies a President puts into place usually does not affect the average person's day to day life. They do, however, affect how each person feels.

I think that's very subtle and misunderstood. Trump himself isn't saying go attack Hispanic people, increase the antisemitic hate crimes, and be racist. Fact check me on the FBI's website if you don't believe me. But his words/ rhetoric absolutely affect what people believe to be acceptable or not.

Before someone says, "Well Malta, Trump isn't convincing people of doing this." I'd say

  1. You're absolutely correct

  2. You have way too much faith in humanity

People are inherently stupid and have parenting issues. They didn't get the right amount of attention/ affection/ love/ discipline/ whatever, and they look for absolute figures to follow. Trump happens to be that figure for largely uneducated, poor, white Americans. Largely, not every Trump supporter fits that mold obviously. I'm gonna get MS for this but check the facts, I'm not wrong.
