I received an offer from them. Did not take it. Everyone seemed nice/smart. Offer was for Dallas. They promote from within w/o needing an MBA, which I find to be attractive. Pay is lower than what I felt was competitive. (This was 1.5 years ago.)

ACAS sucks. that is all. i think their returns have been in the teens and that is it. i worked at a middle market firm, and we pretty much show them every single deal that we had, some good some bad, they turned down all of them.

Maybe your deals sucked or maybe they couldn't get their desired leverage from financing sources. Just because they turn down deals doesn't make them suck. Just playing devil's advocate here.

i think when i said they suck, it's because their return sucks. i added a little anecdote on my personal feelings toward them.

and yes, they gave this presentation at my firm when i first started a year ago, and it was lame.

Short story is, was a solid, respected broad firm in mid-2000s (HY, one-stop, buyouts, distressed, credit strategies, etc.). Took a huge hit from the recession and most of the top talent left from what I've heard/seen.

ACAS isn't nearly as involved in MM deal flow as they were circa 2006. Seems to have straightened itself out a bit over the past year looking at the charts, but still a shell of what it was.

Probably depends on the group (i.e. lending vs. buyouts vs. credit/HF?) but I heard hours are long. Pay was average to above average from what I heard, but no good data points the past few years.
