An opportunity has arisen to join BAE Systems as Director of Group Reporting based in Farnborough.

As a Director of Group Reporting, you will be reporting to the Director (Financial Control and Reporting) and leading a department of twelve staff members.

This role will provide you with the chance to lead and shape financial reporting activities at a senior level, as well as the chance to work for one of the largest defence companies globally.

Your main responsibilities as a Director of Group Reporting will involve:

Leading the preparation of the Group’s interim and final published consolidated statutory accounts, including ownership of the Annual Report and liaison with the Group’s external auditors

Leading the preparation of the Group’s monthly consolidated management accounts, including review of financial information and commentaries for inclusion in the monthly Chief Executive’s Report

Leading the preparation of the UK GAAP statutory accounts for the Group’s UK subsidiaries and a project to transition those subsidiaries to reporting under IFRS from 2015

Ensuring compliance with the latest developments in IFRS, UK GAAP and company law, and providing technical accounting guidance to the business in respect of new accounting standards and ad hoc developments

Maintaining a focus on strong internal controls and developing further the department’s processes to ensure consistent compliance with the BAE Systems Financial Controls Framework

Leading the maintenance and development of the Hyperion Financial Management consolidation system

Leading and developing a team of accountants, including involvement in recruitment activities

Leading ad hoc finance-based project work, including the reporting of business acquisitions and disposals

Your skills and qualifications as a Director of Group Reporting:

Essential:

ACA qualified accountant (or equivalent qualification)

Post-qualification experience either working in a ‘Big 4’ accounting firm at Senior Manager/Director level or a high profile listed group reporting department

Experience of consolidations and listed group reporting

Up-to-date technical knowledge and experience of IFRS and UK GAAP

Desirable:

Experience of Hyperion Financial Management
