Analyst to Associate salary bump in Commercial/Corporate Banking?

What is the typical increase in salary from Analyst to Associate at a BB?

Assuming a 1st year analyst in Commercial Banking makes $65-70K base, and $75-80K base in Corporate?

Really depends on the shop you work at.

Most commercial banking analyst programs are paying 60-65k to start (70k is really on the high side). There are no fixed base step ups so would expect 3-5% annual pay increases outside of promotions. ~10% raises for promotions. Bonus 20-25% of base.

Corporate banking depends if you roll up into same reporting chain as IBD, i.e. being part of the "Corporate and Investment Banking" division. For NYC HQed BBs such as JPM/Citi your base will be same as IBD but lower bonus so typical 85/90/95 structure. I believe The Asian banks based in NYC (Mizuho et all) offer same pay structure. BAML starts you at 60k and moves up by 10k per year, WF I believe is 65-70 but less than 10% raises per annum. Feel free to email me what bank you are curious about and I might have more specific intel.

B2Banker, Can you go into a little more depth about the pay as you go up and what the time-frames would be? I'm a senior right now who accepted an internship for commercial real estate banking at one of the institutions you mentioned and I think it could be something I want to do long-term but I don't know how the pay is as you get to be 5-10 years into your career.

Thanks
