Android or iOS
just wondering which is your preferred mobile OS. I love Android because of widgets, free apps which cost on iOS, screen sizes which don't kill your eyes, and ease of transferring files to and from. Which is your preferred? I have an S3, looking to get an LG G3 the day it comes out.
Definitely Android for me and Nexus in particular. On a practical level I can swype faster on Android than I can type on a computer keyboard, let alone typing on a tiny iPhone screen. on a more philosophical level I generally prefer open source Linux based OS over closed ones like IOS.
nexus so sex. android with overlays is shit. that oneplus one is giving me a tech boner though. seems too good to be true. i don't understand how they're turning a profit.
Android is so fucking slow after a while. Get the iPhone 6 when it comes out with a bigger screen.
I think every mobile OS out right now sucks. I'm a huge tech nerd, and I wholeheartedly believe that the mobile software development industry is in stagnation; too many devs are living like it's 2010, whether they're trying to emulate Angry Birds or iOS 4 (Apple, Google, MSFT).
That said, iOS 4.0 was the last good mobile OS I used. I have an iPhone 5S right now with iOS 7, but it doesn't "feel" good the way past versions have. I'd use Android but that basically requires giving Google Minority-Report-style access to my life.
just accept google as your master. it'll all be ok.
on a side note, contemplating switching to windows phone 8.1.
Get a phone that runs android without any real skin. Or no skin at all (Nexus 5). Fuck phone speed for a second (at these speeds it becomes rather irrelevant anyway), you'll notice you can do all your basic tasks much quicker because of how well designed the UI is.
Android. I don't use anything by Apple (iTunes, Quicktime, etc) so having an iPhone makes no sense. I would have to download a bunch of software I don't need or even like.
I enjoy being able to access the files in my phone directly and the customization that allows. It's far easier to customize Android (sans root) than it is iPhone (sans jailbreak). I don't feel like crazy tampering with my phone, but I do like to do it a bit. Android gives me that freedom.
Plus, the iPhone screen is so small. WTF. And the stupid animations give me a headache. IDK if there's a turn off function on the iPhone, but I can easily turn mine off on Android by accessing the dev options.
iOS is sexy, simple, and still powerful enough to do virtually anything I want
Use a LG G2, unlocked, rooted and ROM'd. No complaints but I do miss my Nexus at times
Being with Verizon I had little flexibility and I got the G2 for $200 off contract which was too good of a deal to pass up.
I hate to say it but iOS is probably going to serve you better. I have an older android phone and so many apps and features don't work at all or are unavailable, which is awkward when everyone uses an iphone. Case in point: emoji.
How old? Android 4.0 really improved the OS and each upgrade since has been building upon this. Though it did take an oddly long time to get emoji on it.
Galaxy S2, I don't even know what OS. I'm not a big phone guy...maybe that's my problem lol.
