Annual MBA Vegas trip, April 2-5

Anyone going? I just signed up; we are expecting about 400 people from b-schools nationwide to show up. I missed it last year, but my classmates who went said it was easily one of the highlights of the year. Pool parties, nightclubs, great food, gambling. Some of the parties will be subsidized as well as part of the total package.

I CAN'T WAIT!!!!! Gosh, b-school is so much more fun than undergrad.

Golly gee this sounds like a rip-roaring good time to hang out with a bunch of you MBA fellas!

ugh. This comment does not sit well with me.

welcome to WSO. the rules of the road:

  1. HBS has mad swagger
  2. Columbia sucks in every way possible
  3. b-school is awesome
  4. asian men (either oriental or southwestern) are worse off than blacks in america
  5. Booth is equal to Wharton

any questions?

mbavsmfin:

Just my opinion bro. Most will disagree with me. I hated my undergrad experience with a passion. It was the worst 4 years of my life. I have tried my best to block out that period from my mind.

I agree with you bro. I got laid way more in grad school then I did in college. Also, FOB chicks are GREAT. Try one. You'll be amazed.

“Elections are a futures market for stolen property”

Average high is like 78 in April. That pool better be heated.

Last thing I would want is to rage out in Vegas with 400 b school people.

Brady, you need a crew of fun guys. You'll have way more fun.

No idea why people think b-students are a bunch of lame dorks who can't have fun. We're not talking about law students or tech geeks. MBA students party just as hard as undergrads; in some cases, even more.

Not quite sure why you even ask about race. But no; it is not Asian only. The Wharton Asian Business Association has taken a lead on planning this, and yes, there will be a lot of Asians who show up, but by no means is it "Asian only." Plenty of non-Asians show up since it's a fun weekend period. And just to clarify, these are ASIAN-AMERICANS from elite b-schools who speak fluent articulate English and are totally Americanized, not some FOBs from China who don't take showers, speak broken English, and smell like Moo Shu pork.

my gosh, you are really insecure about your identity.

Here is the event description from last year. It says "2nd Annual Cross-MBA Asian American Vegas Trek"

http://plancast.com/p/gw8u/2nd-annual-cross-mba-asian-american-vegas-tr… https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/wharton-asia-club-class-2014/S7…

All my friends in MBA refer this annual event as Asian MBA Party. Of course there are non-Asian attending but majority will be Asian.

Oh, btw, I'm proud to be one of "FOBs from China who don't take showers, speak broken English, and smell like Moo Shu pork". IMO there are many ways to be American but look totally Asian and act as White is the worst one.

Haha, I am FOB Asian and I find this funny.

At least I came for undergrad - I can't imagine the cultural adjustments that people who come to America for B School have to make.

@"thebrofessor" Orientials?

Let me clarify - I think Black men and women are the most privileged group in Corporate America. You of course have Affirmative Action. And then no one at work will dare to criticize a Black person, especially Black females because they are shit scared of being labeled "Racist!." (Remember I came to this country with no bias, and I made this observation myself.)

Also, companies are shit scared of Al Sharpton and Co coming after them. So they have to cater to Blacks and hire less qualified candidates to appease the race baiters. Of course the fine higher american education institutions do this without any pressure.

In addition, Asians like me have to face the constant nightmare of dealing with US immigration. Life is definitely not fair. Life is not easy being on a H1 visa.

lol just saw your new avatar, #brady4superbowlmvp

ps are we betting on the game? if hawks win you have to write a post revealing your true identity

You need to let him bring back the Brady4MVP username. That username is probably documented on Wikipedia it's so famous. I'm just glad I didn't have to face him in the WSO user of the year contest, because he would have mopped the floor with me. Let me be the first to sign the online petition to revive the Brady4MVP name.

By no mean I want to make this thread another race fight. I just wanted to say that this event is mostly an Asian MBA party (even from event name) since it is a bit strange that brady/mbavsmfin didn't mention it at all.

I don't get how you can shit on Asian people and then want to go to an event that is largely Asian.

Vegas is fun no matter what, but I'd probably skip this and just go with friends when it is warmer. You'll have more diversity and be able to operate better. Go in June at least.

And the pool at MGM is atrocious. Cosmo all the way.

mbavsmfin:

My beef is with Asian FOBs, not Asian-Americans. HUGE difference between those groups.

My only concern is that it's in early April during Final Four weekend, so I'm concerned that the pool party scene won't be that great and Vegas in general will be a huge sausagefest.

Weather is the issue. Like 80 is too low to really get into the pool unless it is heated. If you have the right weather you'll luck out.

Where are you guys staying? Hard Rock is a little off strip but their pool is legit. I though the cosmo night club was great, although palms was more conducive to talking and hanging out. Wynn was redic also.

@TNA since you and @mbavsmfin both live in the same city - why don't you take him out once and show him how to "roll."

We don't live in the same city. If we did I would include him in my social circle as long as B school or finance is not discussed Haha.
