Answering "Why do you want to work at a Megafund?"

Hi folks, wondering if anyone could advise on what is the best way to approach answering the question "Why do you want to work at a MF?" The answers I've found on WSO tend to point to more of the actual underlying reasons (e.g. pay, experience, prestige, easier to switch out of MF, etc.), but how would one go about articulating this to a HH or in an interview setting?

Here is what I would say:

I am very interested in working for a fund that targets very large businesses and is capable of catalyzing change that the public markets simply can't deliver*. I am drawn to complex transactions because of the intellectual rigor they require and their ability to drive lasting positive change.

And then give a few recent examples that support this statement - a good one, in my opinion, is Silverlake / Dell.

P.S. *I would also point out that very large publicly listed businesses struggle in the world of activism and high hedge fund ownership because it puts too much stress on management and boards to think very short term. Many CEOs fear implementing radical changes because they are worried about a short term hiccup that will lead to Elliott knocking on their door.

Good luck,

Tamara
