Civilization, because anything less than world domination is child's play.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

Agree, Civ 5 was the best one of all. I still have it on my PC.

Out of curiosity, what is the point of this thread? To get new gaming friends?

I play mainly on a PS4 slim and an Xbox 1. I primarily play Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3 and Trials these days, but used to play more hardcore (competitive) in a broad range of games as a kid. Happy to get a new game if there are any good online games out there right now.

Did you really play Vanilla? Vanilla for raiders blew. It was a giant grind and wipefest. I played a rank 13 tauren arms warrior with a pocket healer and ashkandi. Shit was cash tbh.

Why not just play on a private realm if you like older expansions? I log onto Warmane now and again where I have a BiS ret and holy pally and shadow/disc priest.

I prefer the Asian version, Taipan!

I'm in the process of beating Mass Effect 3

Man - the ending is not as big of a deal as people made it, but it's still disappointing.

Still one of my favorite series of all time, although the new one didn't live up to the prior 3

Would you still recommend I pick it up for $15 Black Friday? I also own Witcher 3 and will play that next if not. Also been meaning to get to Ori and Unravel.

Think my favorite game ever is SW: KOTOR. Second one is great too I also enjoyed all of the Ratchet & Clank games and will play the new one once the PS4 gets cheap enough. That's all I want a PS4 for so it has to get pretty cheap.

Tellmehowtoplay what was your favorite ninja gaiden game

definitely ninja gaiden black and then ninja gaiden 2 after that.

ninja gaiden black for the different enemies and the weapons and the challenge levels.

ninja gaiden 2 because it's fresh with the scythe and the gore and still fast paced. I'm tempted to keep a storage of games to let my future children (if any) play them. I'm genuinely sure that I've changed for the better after playing some games/watching some animes.

Come on guys, I'm too busy banging my Victoria Secret model(s) to sit around and play 'video games'....

COD is fun though

Ignore my Title and Industry - I can't seem to change it under 'Edit Profile' lol

Age of Empires, Starcraft, Starcraft 2, Witcher 3, Skyrim

It's in the right direction but far from a CoD classic.

Pros: 1. None of the exo suit bs 2. Traditional COD multiplayer levels 3. Relatively even disbursement of weapon strength (no super OP guns yet) 4. Campaign has solid game play (although characters are a bit generic, less so than the previous 3 though so I'll keep it in pros lol) 5. So far I haven't been having a problem with camping (we'll see how long that lasts) 6. Haven't seen any thermal sights/track finders.......those on LMG's sadly piss me off, like way more than they should lol

Cons: 1. Campaign is short (only US in Europe, ~7hr gameplay depending on ability and lvl of difficulty) 2. Weapons don't have wide variety of attachments 3. Not a whole lot of guns 4. A d-bag class to give shot gunners incendiary ammo (can't stand shot guns :/ ) 5. Player customization isn't as good as previous games (both appearance and special abilities, ie scavenger, etc) 6. Currently DLC content is minimal, which was surprising given how short the campaign was. I figured they put more effort into content people could purchase 7. Game seems rather generous with the hit marker for quick scoping (may be confirmation bias on my part, tho)

I haven't played zombies yet so I can't comment on that aspect. All in all, if you are a traditional CoD fan, I'd suggest buying it (or asking for it over the holidays). It plays like the older games (MW-BO2, less bells and whistles tho). It definitely fees like WaW re-mastered with slight adjustments. I won't hype it as an instant classic. It's a fun game so far but I think there were some big areas they missed the mark on.

Monkey see. Monkey Doo [Doo].

I feel quite out of place, ha.

I don't really play as much as I used to in the day, but I was always game (and still am) to play a game of Madden online with someone. MVP Baseball 2005 was the best baseball game every produced, but the show is still solid. The last real first person shooter I've played was Modern Warfare II, so that gives you a sense of how dated I am on this :P

General hodgepodge of RPG's rounds out my list (e.g., Kindgom Hearts, Skyrim, Final Fantasy, Resonance of Fate, Enchanted Arms, Eternal Sonata, Paper Mario was outstanding :D)

There's a closer meaning to my user name. Try reading it quickly. Perhaps you will then understand ;P

Just beat Mass Effect 3. I do not understand why people dislike the ending. Did you guys stick around for the bit after the credits? It was fucking epic.

I've just started Witcher 3. Well sort of. I'm level 19. It's super fun. Wish there was a little more action-to-talking since I can't bring myself to follow the intricacies of these stories with too much attention.

heister: Look at all these wannabe richies hating on an expensive salad. https://arthuxtable.com/

I know the story is objectively good. I just have a thing where I can't commit serious mental energy to made-up politics. I can barely follow the real shit. Same reason I can't get into Game of Thrones... It's a fun game and I understand the gist of it. But every side quest introduces 15 characters and it's just a lot to take in

Sorry my post didn't meet your expectations SSits. As far as my background I was a competitive/semi-professional gamer, turned professional poker player in college. I then taught myself to trade stocks and options on my student loan money as a PhD candidate, and saw enough success to leave school and pursue it full-time. Five years out, I still haven't needed a "real job." However, the focus of this post was more on entertainment and learning lessons from my own experience rather than proving my credentials. I also felt the advice I gave was self-evident enough that it didn't require a resume. I'm sorry you felt differently, but I appreciate your feedback.

@the uncontortionist

Some people don't realize how some games' digital economies have grown and created jobs for economists. I know this is not the "JPM FICC Analyst" job but look here for the economist job:

http://www.valvesoftware.com/jobs/job_postings.html

Valve is ofc the developer of Counter Strike games, and as I play this game for about 15 years now, I would definitely not hesitate for a second picking this job and start my career in the business of gaming. There is a lot of more growth in online games Economies than the real world economies anyway.

Marketplaces of games like Wow, Fifa games and CS GO act similarly to stock markets and the same skills are required to achieve better items and even make a cash profit at a certain point. This is only going to grow in the future.

I have always thought video games were better for personal development than watching tv. Nothing worse than somebody sitting on the couch watching tv and saying "those video games are melting your brain"

I agree with most that is said in the post.

I used to play poker semi-professionally in college. In other words, I paid for my whole tuition playing cards. I spoke of poker during my PE interview when they asked about what I do in my spare time and it turned out that one of the VPs was a huge fan of live tournament poker. He played in some of the same events as me and I believe that this gave me a huge edge to get the job.

This is a fair point to some degree. My examples were that of trading. However, the same rules apply to investing, and I have my share of long investments that I put the same principles above to use to find, research, etc.

Gears of War taught me the value of team work. If you rush into a battle without your squad covering all vantage points, you'll take a chainsaw to the face real quick.
