I know there have been several posts way in the past with not many comments, but does anyone know much about Hamilton Lane in Philly or Harbourvest? Borth recruit heavily from my school in early fall, but am curious about if they are just co-investments & secondaries and exit opportunities from a firm like them as an analyst. I attend a non-target and am trying to figure out if a similar firm would be equivalent to a boutique IB right after school to try and move to direct PE

They're better brand names than boutique IB, but since they're mostly in the asset allocation game it's not clear to me that it's a great stepping stone to PE (aside from IR). You could likely lateral to a pretty good bank from there though
Had a FT offer from them, the only PE related exits come from the co-invest team, and those are average at best. Need direct majority investment experience or advisory experience to get analytical/modeling background.
What are the chances I would be able to lateral to an EB for full-time after a year doing co-investments somewhere/What would be the best way to go about it? Have read that the process is quite difficult. Currently have a GPA in the 3.5-3.6 range with a CS background from a non-target with a few hedge fund internships but no IB.
