Anyone else get annoyed as fuck when high school classmates come asking you for jobs?

Note: Before you read on, I don't mean high school friends with whom you had great times with, went to prom with, got detention with, got free weed from, etc...

I'm talking, guys you barely know, guys you had beef with, guys who you never spoke to in 8 years, guys who tried to steal your gf, etc...

Not to mention I'm only an UNDERGRAD student but here we go... i've frequently been getting FB convos like this (if this exchange looks familiar, i obviously dont care if you're reading this lmao):

(Barely spoke to this guy in HS, much less remember his name & the time he "borrowed" $15 to buy lunch.)
Him: Hey man! Long time no talk. How's the ivy league?
Me (thinking this was a legitimate attempt to start a real friendship): Woah! it's been a while! ive been great, just busy as shit with everything. how's life with you man? what you been up to last 5 years?
Him: good. just looking for jobs. would you mind putting me into one of Wharton's finance info sessions? no one ever recruits at my school -- i figured i could walk in with you. :)

what the fuck seriously. there are about 16 other convos (w/diff people) similar to this.

(end brief rant)

i don't know what's douchier, your "friend's" post or your post describing it

I don't know what's douchier. writing a post about an annoyance that others might share in the Misc. section of an online forum, or reading said post and wasting time calling someone who's action isn't anywhere close to douchebaggery, a douche.

you'd know what i mean when you waste your time reading these cute little back and forth messages thinking someone might want to catch up with an old classmate and possibly become friends only to realize they're just trying to use you. it's annoying as shit.

UES802:
ZOMG! u wentz to un IVEE LEEGUE schoolz?!?

hahahaha...even worse: i didn't "went"...i "current attend"...i haven't even fucking graduated yet and these morons are filling my inboxes with these annoying messages that i wouldn't know to be annoying until AFTER i waste time reading them.

this leads me to another idea: what goes on through the minds of extremely busy senior bankers when undergrads they never even met send them networking emails out of nowhere that they have to waste time reading?

Not the same thing as you, since you think you are being "deceived"...while an MD flat out knows that any email from an undergrad = networking attempt.

lookatmycock....is this guy the embodiment of the wharton "douchebag" or what? I've read some of your posts and it's almost a parody of the stereotype. When I was at Penn wharton students were mature, friendly, hardworking and very entreperneurial. But nowadays, from what I've seen at info sessions and interviewing, the classes are filled with entitled little jerks who all believe that HF manager is their well-deserved destiny simply because of the wharton name. It's just ridiculous.

If people only message you for hookups than you're not a nice/fun guy to hang out with. Your worth to them is the school that admitted you. But being angry at them won't solve the problem.

chill out. re-read the first line of my post. i have no problem lending a hand to people i've been cool with over the last 6-8 years or so. it's the people i've never hung out with who all of a sudden come up to me with this shit. you say i'm "ENTITLED". that's funny. i feel the same way about these guys - they feel ENTITLED to think someone will spend effort to help them, some whom they had beef with in the past.

I don't understand. Explain to me exactly what part of my post made me come off as an entitled douchebag. If I went to a public school and wrote this post (assume I went to U-Miami [again, NOT suggesting they're bad. I almost went there for their full scholarship - if you REALLY read all my posts, you'd see my paragraph-long post speaking FOR a school like the University of Miami and telling others NOT to be an ivy league elitist. ]) So assume I went to UMIAMI instead of WHARTON and the guy who sent me shit went to UF. Would you say the same thing about me? An entitled wharton prick?

would you say the same thing if I still wrote this post?

When you CLEARLY did not read all my posts as you proclaim, the last sentence in my post right there: "cut the elitism guys, it's what gives the ivy league a bad rep".

It's 4AM dude. chill out. go grab a beer and get off my case. See you at the next info session. Feel free to call me an asshole then if you still think i am one :)

@looksatmycock

I'm a perspective hedge fund manager, although I have zero experience I was wondering if you could help get me a job? I'd like to join the industry as soon as I graduate (managing any were from 1B-4B), thanks for your help. lol

i like your gutsy attitude. let's talk. lunch at 2?

..everybody wants something for nothing

let him know that there aint no such damn thang as a free lunch

..had to dirty it up for these shitty non target fuckers

------------ I'm making it up as I go along.

Well is the kid money? No one does recruit at their school, but the kid could be $$$.

So you could help get in, and he kicks ass and maybe you call him in the future for a favor or so. Or he gets in, and remembers one day the douchebag from Wharton wouldn't even reply to him on FB, cause he was so busy.

I would just reply to the kid, and ask him are you $$$? Prove it, where did you work, what yours GPA etc...

I don't know, I don't think Cock is being a douche in this post. He is in a good school and kids who treated him like shit back in the day are now sucking his knee caps. Tell them to fuck off and be done with them.

Lesson to all the kids on this site. Treat everyone with respect because you never know how they will turn out.

Example: I was an epic dick to a kid who just graduated Columbia law. He friends me on FB and I think we exchanged an email here or there. Kid is obviously successful and doing well for himself. Now thank god I could careless about law or else I would be kicking myself in the ass.
