Anyone from Cornell U here? Give us your experiences!
Hey, if anyone from Cornell U is reading this, please give us your experiences in your i-banking endeavors (such as ease of getting recruited, number of recruiters on campus, your starting salary + compensation, etc).
thanks
yeah i want to know too...i'm in the undergrad biz prog...how bout u showmewhatyougot?
oh thats great! I'm in ILR, with a concentration in finance.
if anyone cares to answer, how bout recruiting from cornell from AEM w/ concentration in Math? Is it worth it to completely major in Math instead?
Cornell is heavily recruited for IB front office. AEM is a solid program, however a students major usually is not a great factor. Johnson School electives (NBA) are an excellent resume booster/space filler. I wouldn't recommend NBAs for a fresh or soph though, as they are much more intense than UGs and the vast majority of students taking them are 24+.
yup i saw u on collegeconfidential too...i think u should stick w/ ilr...
I know a 4.0 AEM junior who interviewed at all BBs minus GS (but plus Blackstone) for a summer internship. He didn't get any offers at the end. Sounds like cliche and you already know this, but this just shows that while the recruiting process itself is very solid, it's really up to the individual (that is, interviewing skills). It goes for any school.
My little brother is actually trying to transfer into Cornell.
50% transfer rate into ILR
12% transfer rate into AEM
His stats are very good, but he comes from a CC so he's wondering if he should try for AEM or be safe with ILR. Do you really have a big advantage in AEM?
Thanks.
jaclee317, so what did the guy end up doing this summer?
AEM is better than ILR in my opinion, the classes are more catered to finance rather than law.
Also, econ majors do fairly well, as does operations research engineering when it comes to the ib selection process.
I'm working mid office at a BB for a summer internship right now, but I hope that will be enough to put me in the front office for next semester when it actually counts.
sammy101, he's working in NYC in the public sector (government agency). Turns out he's not going for FT recruiting next year but is applying for law school instead.
I agree that AEM is still more practical for IB than ILR.
you should try to get into one of the business fraternities. It helps a tremendous amount both with alumni contacts and preperation for interviews. They are both essentially the same but are very competitive.
hey, im in ILR too! I'm concentrating in economics/finance also.
i heard some of you are from college confidential? what are your sns?
i'm in ilr too!
i'm in AEM
you guys are weak...
this was in response to what exactly?
